Cropped Cardigan
This cropped cardigan is a great introduction to cardigan knitting for someone who's never knit one before. Worked in chunky yarn, the cropped shape takes no time to knit up, and the boxy, roomy shape is comfortable to wear when you need just a little cover up.

Cowl Neck Sweater
This is a wonderful sweater for a beginner. The pattern is easy, using two coordinating colors and a stockinette pattern stitch. Shaping is easy and the style can't be beat. The cowl neck style is rather forgiving and looks good on nearly everyone.

Garter Stitch Top
This sweater uses super-simple garter stitch, but it's made a little more interesting with the addition of a checkerboard, two-color pattern. This would be a good first sweater for someone who's comfortable with color, or a good second sweater for those who haven't knitted with color changes.

Lacy Sweater
There's only one word to describe this simple sweater: classy. Its classic style will take you from the office to holiday parties to walks along the beach in the springtime. The pattern includes a matching scarf for even more wardrobe possibilities.

Three Times Chic Sweater
This versatile pattern can be knitted in any yarn that gives you three stitches per inch. It's even more amazing in that, depending on the yarn, you might find you like what' supposed to be the "inside" better than the "outside" and it works perfectly well finished inside out as well.

Raglan Jumper
This basic pattern, sized for both women and girls, is sure to become a favorite. It's easy to knit in either size, with a classic look that you'll love. Pattern opens in a PDF and uses metric sizing.

Handspun Rainbow Sweater
This gorgeous sweater is a riot of color with hand-dyed yarns (do it yourself or buy from the manufacturer). It also features fun wave designs. This is not a sweater for beginners, but it certainly gives you something to aspire to!

Knit Ribbed Tunic
This lovely oversized tunic-style sweater is fashionable with a large almost cowl-like neckline. It's a pretty easy piece and perfect to throw on over jeans with a wide belt.
