Knitting Patterns for Pets - Knitting Projects for Pets

Even our furry friends can benefit from our knitting projects. Here are some ideas for your favorite feline or the most delightful dog in your life.
Dog Bandana
Dogs love to get dressed up, too, so why not knit a quick cotton bandana for your furry friend that matches one of your outfits?
Cable Knit Dog Sweater
This sweater was originally designed for greyhounds and is shown on pugs, so it's a versatile pattern that can be easily altered to fit the size of your dog. It's very cute and a somewhat fancy pattern.
The Original Custom-Fit Dog Sweater
This pattern gives very detailed instructions on how to knit a sweater for a dog of any size. There's math involved, but it's a great way to get a sweater you're sure will fit.
Dog Poncho
Inspired by the famous Martha Stewart poncho, this one is designed especially for dogs. It's super-cute and very easy and quick to knit.
Feline Dim Sum
These adorable, quick knitting cat toys are inspired by Chinese food: wontons and egg rolls. They're a little different than your average catnip mouse, but they're also a little more fun.
Any Yarn Toy Cat
Suitable for a cat toy or just as a toy cat, this cute little project involves easy stripes and shaping. Knowing my cats, I'd want to leave off the eyes.
Steamed Bun Cat Toy
Inspired by the above-mentioned dim sum for cats, here's another catnip toy that looks like food. This time it's an adorable steamed bun.
Knitted Dog Jumper
This cute little pattern from Australia turns your dog into a bit of a superhero with its capelike design and the word "dog" stitched onto the back.
Jingle Bell Dog Collar
If your dog is in need of a little bling for the holiday season, knit him or her this cute court-jester inspired red and green dog collar (embellished with jingle bells, of course!).
Doggy's Got Style Sweater
This adorable sweater is made for a medium-small dog, but detailed instructions will allow you to scale up or down. The striped mosaic garter stitch adds a level of sophistication you don't often see on dog sweaters.
Cat Muumuu
This project really extends beyond trying to keep your pet warm into downright feline torture. That doesn't mean you shouldn't knit up this quick and easy ruffled muumuu that can also double as a human capelet.
Fish Toy
No, it's not a toy for fish, it's a cat toy that looks like a fish. Made from a scrap of multi-colored yarn, this project is incredibly quick and very cute, too.
Pup Sweater
A super-warm sweater fit for a smallish dog is knit in one of my favorite yarns, Rowan Big Wool.
Pampered Pet Pillow
This pet pillow is a perfect project for a beginner because it's just straight knitting sewed to a pillow form. Made with Fun Fur, this project would be great for a kids' room, too.
Knitted Dog Sweater
Good for a small dog, this fancy knitted sweater uses novelty yarn and bright colors to ensure your favorite dog stands out in a crowd and is warmed in style.
Felted Kitty Bed
This project is basically a big, felted bowl for your cat to sleep in. It's very cute and knit in the round on double-pointed needles. This project would make a good decorative bowl, even if you didn't have a cat to put in it.
