There are several variations on the basketweave stitch. Here are two of the most popular.
Basketweave 1
Works on multiples of eight plus three stitches.
Row one: Knit across.
Row two: K4, P3, *K5, P3; repeat from asterisk across, end K4.
Row three: P4, K3, *P5, K3; repeat from asterisk across, end P4.
Row four: Repeat row two.
Row five: Knit
Row six: P3, *K5, P3; repeat from asterisk across.
Row seven: K3, *P5, K3; repeat from asterisk across.
Row eight: Repeat row six.
Repeat these eight rows for pattern.
Used in Basketweave Scarf.
Basketweave 2
Works on multiples of eight stitches.
Row one:Row 1: *P6, K2, repeat from asterisk across.
Row two: *P2, K6, repeat from asterisk across.
Row three: Repeat row one.
Row four: Repeat row two.
Row five: P2, *K2, P6, repeat from asterisk across, ending with P4.
Row six: K4, *P2, K6, repeat from asterisk across, ending with K2.
Row seven: Repeat row five.
Row eight: Repeat row six.
Repeat these eight rows for pattern.
