The Squared Check knitting pattern is a really easy stitch pattern and it looks great on this knit bag worked with two strands of coordinating yarn held together for even more texture. The bag features a handle knit in the same pattern and gussets worked in Stockinette Stitch.
Finish the bag off with a fabric lining and a zipper or snap closure to make this one bag you'll use again and again.
Materials:
- one skein of Lion Brand Wool Ease and about 200 yards of a coordinating medium-weight yarn of your choice (or use 200 yards of any two yarns you like)
- one pair size 11 US (8 mm) knitting needles
- tape measure, scissors and yarn needle
- fabric for bag lining
- zipper, snap or closure of your choice
Gauge:
12 stitches and 17 rows per 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch with two strands held together (3 stitches and 4.25 rows per inch). Gauge is not incredibly critical, but you want a somewhat firm fabric.
Size:
Finished bag is about 8 inches tall and 9 inches wide with 4-inch gussets. The knit handle is about 3 inches wide and 28 inches long.
