Tis the Season...for Lots of Reading
Friday September 26, 2008
This weekend there's a huge motorcycle rally in my hometown. I have nothing against bikers, but having tens of thousands of more people on the roads tends to drive me inside for much of the weekend. But this weekend I don't even care, if fact, I'm pretty darn excited about getting to stay inside, because I've got a ton of reading to do. Yesterday I picked up the special Interweave Felt magazine and the premiere issue of Debbie Bliss Knitting magazine, published by Vogue Knitting. Both magazines are lovely and full of great ideas for fall. In the Interweave magazine I'm loving the Suri Spot Mitts (on the cover), the felted polar fears and the Fulled Trellis Hat, a lightly cabled hat with a ribbed edge added after the hat hits the machine.
The Debbie Bliss magazine has a whole feature on gray knits, which I love, since gray has always been one of my favorite neutrals. I'm also kind of in love with her new yarn Como, a super-bulky thing in some really lovely colors. Patterns that caught my attention here include a long pair of gray socks, a lovely, simple little curved cardigan and a jacket with a panel of cables on the back that fans out into a peplum. Cute! Then today I got in the mail the new books from both Mason Dixon Knitting and the Yarn Harlot, so I'm sure to have my head in some kind of printed material for a couple of days to come.
What about you? Reading any good knitting related stuff lately? Or is there a new book you're really looking forward to?
