Wordless Wednesday: A Great Bag

Recyled rice sack messenger bag
Gecko Traders recycled rice sack messenger bag. (c) Sarah E. White.

I bought myself an early birthday present in the form of this great bag from Gecko Traders. It's a messenger bag made from a rice bag in Cambodia.

The exterior has a pocket in the back, and when you open the flap there's a small pocket and a place for a couple of pens. The inside is fully lined with black fabric and includes a zipped pocket on the interior, another on the flap and a hook for your keys.

I think this will make a great bag for my knitting, library books or whatever I need to tote on any given day. And it's recycled and made by workers who need a hand. Sounds pretty good to me.

I used to get great basmati rice bags and wonder what I should do with them. I managed to keep the pretty twisted cord, but never figured out what to do with the sack. This messenger bag photo may inspire me if I ever get that type of rice again. Thanks.
