Gauge Check
- I have a Jr. Knitters' Gauge which measures the particular gauge (for example, 4 sts.= 1"). Put your swatch to the Gauge measurement and it shows the gauge. Got it from Patternworks and have used it many times. Highly Recommended!

My Must-Have Tools
- I picked up two double deck organizer boxes, a pink one which has sock knitting supplies, and a blue one that has hat knitting supplies. Each box has rulers, an emery board, seaming needle, markers, safety pins in several colors, a stitch holder, cable needle, measuring tape, folding scissors, nail clipper (I get hangnails) and small binder clips. I have a plastic envelope type pencil holder that holds my double point needles. I have a plastic pouch from a rain poncho that holds my 16 inch 'hat' circular needles. Two of the rulers I have are 12 inch rulers that fold down to six inches, and fit in the organizer boxes. My main stash of circulars are stored in a check file envelope. Right now, it is very full, so I am hoping to find a couple more to sort my needles by length.

Wonderful Gadget
- I have an instrument that I find invaluable for untangling yarn or picking up dropped stitches. I don't know what it's called or even where I bought it, but it has a small crochet hook on one end and what appears to be a dental type instrument on the other. I've tried several times to buy another one, so if anyone knows the name of this gadget or where they are available, please post it.

Knitting Tool Bag
- I keep my current "in use" knitting needles, yarn and pattern in a diaper bag (we received several from the hospital when our daughter was born) that I use as my crochet bag. I have 2 make up bags -- one holds all the hooks and tapestry needles. The other holds 2 pairs of small scissors, tape measure, stitch markers, pencil and row clicker/counter. I also have room for a notebook/graph paper if needed.

My Must-have Additions
- Post-it notes and highlighting tape to keep place in a pattern, a highlighter, pen or pencil and a small magnifying glass.

Knitting Tool Bag Must Haves
- I agree with all you mentioned, but I also like to keep a knitting gauge in my tool kit as well. It always is handy when starting a new project to make sure I'm in gauge with the pattern.

Essentials
- I have a highlighter and and old eyebrow pencil for marking directions or patterns. I use a cosmetic bag with several compartments that I got years ago free with a makeup purchase.

Must Haves - Knitting Tool Holder
- I bought a small plastic photo box at a craft store and use as my little knitting tool box. It is about the size of a school pencil box and I keep scissors, yarn needles, stitch markers and holders, measuring tape, guage, cable holders, etc. in my little tool box. It's small and easy to grab for which ever tote bag I'm carrying.

Must-Haves
- I carry a spreadsheet listing all my needles. This prevents me from buying needle sizes I already have. I also carry a cosmetic bag with over-the-counter pain reliever, bandaids, wet wipes, tissues, and other such items.

Must Haves
- I have about 12 bobby pins (on the cardboard paper they come on). They take up no space in my take-a-long bag. I have used them for cable needles (they don't fall off), row markers, to hold dropped stitches, and when sewing the sweater together to "pin" the pieces (especially if you need to ease in a piece) and in a pinch instead of a yarn needle. All these uses; I love them!

My personal must-haves
- Among that, I also keep a smaller case to hold things like crochet hooks and (what I use for) stitch markers in a smaller zip-lock bag to make sure I can find them.

Knitting Tool Bag
- I have one of those draw-string backpacks for my knitting supplies. That way, I can take along as much as I need, with more room to spare! Besides, I can just slip it on my back, knowing it's still there, not like those tiny makeup bags.

Must haves
- I save some tabs from soda cans. They work well as stitch markers in a pinch! You can also use straws, if you have a scissor along to snip short lengths. I also carry post it notes, a pen, and a highlighter. I use the post its to mark off number of rows or to underline the row I am on. If my copy is in an acetate, I use highlighter tape, available wherever you can buy school supplies.

must haves
- You have a good list almost all that I carry along with the following : Safety pins and scarps of different colors of yarn, Safety pins are used for dropped stitches so that they do not drop further, and the center stitch for a V neck. Scaraps of yarn I weave losely with rows so they are easier to count and I do not have to go back to beginning each time. No need for a row counter. All these small items, yarn needles, safety pins, cable needles, Crochet hooks I carry in a spaectacle case. sm
