Knitters tend to be a rather obsessive bunch. We fall in love with the fiber, the needles, getting together with other people and talking about knitting; all of it is a lot of fun for us.
How do you know when knitting has surpassed being a mere hobby in your life and become a full-fledged obsession? Here, knitters finish the sentence "You know you're a knitaholic when..."
Share Your StoryFor the Love of Blogging
- When I decided to create a blog for myself my inner passion knitting saw light of the day. After retirement I got into habit of doing amigirumis or toys for my nephew. I hope to continue my journey with the knitting community that have become my virtual friends. Thanks Sarah for giving an opportunity to allow us to share our feelings.

Knitting Goes EVERYWHERE
- I knit at traffic lights, the dentist chair, the doctor’s office, while waiting for an oil change, at Knitting In Public or “Kipping” groups, restaurants, or standing in line. I always knit when my husband is driving, even at night on the way home.

You Know Your A Knitahcolic When...
- Your children tell you to use what's in the house and won't let you purchase more yarn or patterns unless it's for a specific order.

You know your a knitaholic when...

You know you're a knitaholic when...
- You pay more attention to the knitting than you do to the road. No, I don't knit while the car is in motion IF I'm the driver, but I do knit while DH drives. I've learned the hard way that If I'm the navigator, I have to pay some attention to where he's going. I have been known to knit while I'm the driver when we're stuck in a traffic jam or a snowstorm. I even have an *emergency car knitting* basket for just such occasions. The EMTs in town also know that they are not allowed to put me in the ambulance unless my knitting is with me...spent way too many hours on an emergency room gurney.

You know you're ...
- When you realize that EVERY reusable grocery bag in the house holds a pattern, a couple of hanks of yarn and knitting needles. I'm afraid to buy more bags 'cause that means more knitting!

Knitting Down the Aisle
- you know you are a knit addict when you are a bridesmaid and while walking down the aisle you can't put down the socks you are knitting out of the pocket you sewed in your brides maid dress. It's sad but true.

Makes Being DD More Fun
- You know you are a knitaholic when you are the designated driver for your friends at the bar, and you take your knitting along to entertain yourself because it is more fun than just watching your friends get drunk. :)

YKYAKW
- I knew I was completely hooked (pun intended - I sometimes crochet in a pinch) when I found myself teaching emotional therapy clients how to knit. Why not? It's easy, requires specific concentration, and once you get good with it, it's easy to work on personal issues without throwing things or yelling. One client even used it to "justify" quitting smoking because her yarn smelled "yucky" if she went back to knitting after smoking - the knitting is more important! For me, the personal moment of "oh frak, I'm addicted" came when I wandered around the house on a day off, rushing to get chores and dinner and such done, just so I could be guaranteed at least three uninterrupted hours of blissful fiber-work - and the sooner I got the chores done, the more time I'd have for knitting.

Knitting in the Hospital
- I didn't actually knit while I was in labor with my daughter (she was born six weeks early and I didn't bring a project when we went to the hospital) but I have heard of people doing that, and I'm pretty sure that counts as being knit-obsessed. I did do a fair bit of knitting while my baby was in the NICU (when I wasn't sleeping!), but that's just a good use of time where you can't really do much else.
