What Did You Knit?
Among other items, I knitted a burial gown for preemies who do not make it out of the hospital. I knit for CareWear, an organization that has knitters and crocheters make hats, burial gowns, blankets and other items used by those in the NICU and in the geriatric wards. My daughter and I deliver all we have made to the local charity hospital, Jackson in downtown Miami. Crafters all across the country also do likewise. And...we need more people to do as we do.
Where Did You Donate?
Jackson Memorial Hospital, Holtz Children's Hospital, downtown Miami and the satellite hospital on 152 Street. Last year the package went to Baptist Hospital. I already have this year's package well on the way.
Advice
- Babies who die in the hospital without ever gaining consciousness mean their parents go home with a baby who has nothing special and is not living at all. If one person can send the baby home in a pretty burial gown or a handmade blanket why not take the time (its also relaxing) to knit or crochet something nice?
What Was Your Experience Like?
Heartwarming!
Would You Donate Again?
Yes,I already do.
