Definition:

Works on any number of stitches.

Rows 1-4: Knit.

Row 5: Purl.

Row 6: Knit.

Row 7: Purl.

Row 8: Knit.

Repeat these 8 rows for pattern, or alternate between garter stitch and stockinette stitch whenever you like, making sure that the knit side of the stockinette is consistently on the same side of the work, as shown in the middle of this swatch.
