Definition:

Works on multiples of 17 stitches.

Row 1: Purl 1, knit 3, purl 9, knit 3, *purl 2, knit 3, purl 9, knit 3. Repeat from * to last stitch, purl 1.

Row 2 (right side): Knit 2, purl 3, knit 7, purl 3, *knit 4, purl 3, knit 7, purl 3. Repeat from * to last two stitches, knit 2.

Row 3: Purl 3, knit 3, purl 5, knit 3, *purl 6, knit 3, purl 5, knit 3. Repeat from * to last three stitches, purl 3.

Row 4: Knit 4, purl 3, knit 3, purl 3, *knit 8, purl 3, knit 3, purl 3. Repeat from * to last four stitches, knit 4.

Row 5: Purl 5, knit 3, purl 1, knit 3, *purl 10, knit 3, purl 1, knit 3. Repeat from * to last five stitches, purl 5.

Row 6: Knit 6, purl 5, *knit 12, purl 5. Repeat from * to last six stitches, knit six.

Row 7: Purl 7, knit 3, *purl 14, knit 3. Repeat from * to last seven stitches, purl 7.

Row 8: Repeat row 6.

Row 9: Repeat row 5.

Row 10: Repeat row 4.

Row 11: Repeat row 3.

Row 12: Repeat row 2.

Repeat these 12 rows for pattern.

Note: The pattern as written works over 34 stitches with no repeats in any rows. If you want to work the pattern over just 17 stitches, skip the section that would be repeated and just knit the beginning stitches and the ending stitches. For example, row 1 worked over 17 stitches would be P1, K3, P9, K3, P1.
