Definition:

Works on multiples of 6 stitches plus 2.

Row 1 (wrong side): Knit 1, purl 1, *knit 4, purl 2. Repeat from * across, ending knit 4, purl 1, knit 1.

Row 2: Purl 1, *slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold in front, purl 1, then knit the stitch from the cable needle (referred to as front cross below), purl 2, slip next stitch on cable needle and hold in back, knit 1, then purl stitch from cable needle (referred to below as back cross). Repeat from * across, ending purl 1.

Row 3 and all other wrong-side rows: Knit the knits and purl the purls as you see them.

Row 4: Purl 2, *front cross, back cross, purl 2. Repeat from * across.

Row 6: Purl 3, *slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold in back, knit the next stitch, then knit the stitch from the cable needle, purl 4. Repeat from * across, ending purl 3.

Row 8: Purl 2, *back cross, front cross, purl 2. Repeat from * across.

Row 10: Repeat row 4.

Row 12: Repeat row 6.

Row 14: Repeat row 8.

Row 16: Purl 1, *back cross, purl 2, front cross. Repeat from * across, ending purl 1.

Row 18: Back cross, purl 4, *slip next stitch to cable needle and hold in front, knit the next stitch, then knit the stitch from the cable needle (front knit cross), purl 4. Repeat from * across, ending front cross.

Row 20: Knit 1, purl 4, *back cross, front cross, purl 2. Repeat from * across, ending purl 2, knit 1.

Row 22: Knit 1, purl 4, *front cross, back cross, purl 2. Repeat from * across, ending purl 2, knit 1.

Row 24: Front cross, purl 4, *front knit cross, purl 4. Repeat from * across, ending back cross.

Repeat these rows for pattern.
