Now take the needle and slide it through the first stitch on the back needle as if to knit, again not slipping the stitch off the needle and pulling the yarn snug all the way through the stitch. Now you're ready to begin the actual grafting part.

If you've ever watched a knitter do Kitchener Stitch, you might have heard him or her mumbling. What the knitter was probably mumbling was: knit off, purl on, purl off, knit on. Which means nothing to you now, but it will soon.
