Definition:

The leg of the sock is the part that covers your leg when you wear the sock. It can range in length from almost nothing on shortie socks to the full length of the human leg for knit hose.

A typical sock has a leg ranging in length from four to eight inches, but it can be altered to suit your style. Sock legs are a great place to try out new stitch patterns and to make your socks fancy.

In the picture at right, the leg is knit in red.
