Definition:

The top part of a sock, which is usually knit in Single or Double Ribbing. A cuff is usually one or two inches long and helps hold the sock onto the wearer's leg.

A cuff can also be in the same stitch pattern as the leg and simply be folded over to make a cuff, if desired.

In the picture at right, the cuff is the part knit in pink.
