Kitchen Cotton

By Sarah E. White, About.com

Definition:

Kitchen cotton is a generic term for a worsted-weight, 100 percent cotton yarn (often 4-ply) that is often used for dishcloths, placemats, washcloths, hand towels and other projects that might be used in the kitchen.

There are many different manufacturers that make kitchen cotton yarns, but perhaps the most well known is Lily's Sugar'n Cream.

Other options for kitchen cotton include Peaches & Creme and Lion Cotton. The great thing about kitchen cotton is its relatively inexpensive, durable and machine washable, so its great for little projects that are going to get a lot of use.
