Cast on 32 stitches.
Work in knit 1, purl 1 ribbing for 4 rows.
Keep the first 4 and last 4 stitches in ribbing throughout. On the next row, start working all other stitches in Stockinette Stitch. On this row, work the first 4 stitches, then knit 2 together and work across normally. For remaining rows, work even.
Work in Stockinette Stitch for about an inch, ending with a purl row. Then work the sun chart, still keeping the outside stitches in ribbing (they are not noted on the chart).
Work another inch or so in Stockinette, ending with a knit row. Right before the rib stitches at the end of the last row, knit in the front and back of the last stitch.
Work 4 rows in knit 1, purl 1 ribbing.
Bind off in pattern.
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
