The Knitting Habitat and Melting Pot Design in Aurora offers a "blend of artistic products" including yarn, stationery, cards, gifts and home and garden items. The shop also has knitting workshops and events to bring knitters together.
Shuttles, Spindles and Skeins
Located in Boulder, Shuttles, Spindles and Skeins focuses on supplies and instruction for knitting, weaving and spinning, but also includes crochet, tatting, basket making and felting supplies and classes. The shop has a wonderful variety of yarn and knitting supplies, and offers a bulk discount when you spend over $200.
Serendipity Yarn and Gifts
Serendipity Yarn and Gifts in Buena Vista specializes in unique, novelty, premium and hand-dyed yarns for knitters and others. The website offers a few free patterns and more information about the shop.
Red Door Yarns
Located in Burlington, Red Door Yarns is a cute little shop with a bright red door. Inside you'll find yarns, needles, notions and friendly people who can help you with your knitting needs. The site will tell you a little more about the shop and the yarns they carry.
Colorful Yarns
Colorful Yarns in Centennial sells a number of different brands of knitting yarn as well as other knitting needs. The website is a blog that is updated with class schedules, store hours and information about sale items.
Knitty Cat
Knitty Cat in Centennial offers more than 25 brands of yarn as well as fun accessories like purse handles, beads and buttons. The site offers information on classes and current events at the store. When I checked in they were doing a mystery knit along on the site and through a Yahoo group.
Posh: A Yarn Boutique
Located in northwest Denver, Posh is a "ewenique" boutique celebrating all there is to love about yarn and knitting. They sell more than 20 brands of yarn as well as notions, magazines and supplies. Posh offers several classes each month and has a blog to keep shoppers up to date.
Yarn Durango
Yarn Durango, located (where else?) in Durango, has a large selection of all the lovely yarn's you'd expect, as well as a few unusual ones. The store offers classes and also features a tea bar if you want to indulge in something other than fiber for a change. The store also has a mystery sock knitting club, and is one of the few yarn shops we know of with a shop dog.
The Stitchin' Den
The Stitchin' Den in Estes Park actually has two locations to better serve knitters and stitchers. They carry more than a dozen brands of yarn, as well as cross stitch and needlepoint supplies. The store offers classes and a newsletter, and orders can be placed by phone or e-mail.
My Sister Knits
Located in Fort Collins, My Sister Knits offers more than 40 brands of yarn, 10 brands of needles, and tons of accessories for the discriminating knitter. The store hosts classes and charity knitting nights, where the yarn is provided and you can sit and knit for charity. A few free patterns are also available online.
The Recycled Lamb
Considered the oldest and most established yarn store in Colorado, The Recycled Lamb is located in Lakewood. The shop offers a huge selection of yarns and "the big white rectangular knitting table" where knitters come together to learn and to teach. The site offers tips, information on classes and a newsletter.
Showers of Flowers
Located in Lakewood, Showers of Flowers has a good selection of yarn, needles and accessories. The shop has a great selection of knitting kits for men (the projects are for men, not necessarily the knitters). The store has more than 14,000 square feet of knitting goodness, as well as an online shop and links to free patterns.
A Knitted Peace
In the historic downtown Littleton shopping district, A Knitted Peace offers yarn, supplies and support to knitters of all levels of experience. With well over 100 classes a year and several expert instructors, the shop is a resource for successful sweater making, felting and crocheting, and stocks beautiful yarn in all price ranges.
Woolen Treasures Yarn Shop
Woolen Treasures in Loveland offers nearly 30 brands of yarn, as well as patterns (plus a few free ones on the site), books and notions. Check out the specials page to find out what's on sale before you head out.
Colorado Fiber Arts
Colorado Fiber Arts in Pueblo has a very cool website, which bodes well for the shop behind it. Many classes and workshops are offered, and there is open knitting twice a month at the shop. A blog helps keep readers informed of sales and new arrivals.
