Finishing the Hat:
Sew the seam down the back of the hat through the selvedge stitches to keep it neat and line up the edges so pattern stays consistent.
Knitting the Ruffle:
With contrasting color yarn and circular needle, pick up and knit 72 (88, 104) stitches around brim of hat along the cast on edge. Place marker at beginning of round.
- Knit 4 rounds.
- Increase by knitting in the front and back of all stitches. 144 (176, 208) stitches.
- Knit the next round.
- Knit in the front and back of all stitches again. 288 (352, 416) stitches.
- Knit the next round.
- Bind off loosely.
Knit the Rose:
- With contrasting color yarn, cast on 12 stitches and purl 1 row.
- Kfb across row (24 stitches).
- Purl the next row.
- Kfb across row (48 stitches).
- Purl the next row.
- Kfb across row; (96 stitches).
- Purl the next row.
- Bind off loosely.
Twist rose piece into a flower shape and stitch the petals together to secure. Attach rose to side of hat. Weave in all ends.
