Seed Stitch Square

Seedy Knitting:

Seed Stitch is a simple stitch pattern that makes a great textured knit fabric and is also reversible, making it great for blankets and afghans. Knit up a quick square to add to your sampler.

Materials:

  • about 105 yards of the worsted weight yarn of your choice (I used Plymouth Encore color 515)
  • one pair size 8 US knitting needles
  • scissors and yarn needle

Gauge:

15 stitches per 4 inches, or 3.75 stitches per inch.

Size:

12 by 12 inch block.

Instructions:

  1. Cast on 46 stitches.
  2. Row 1: *Knit 1, purl 1. Repeat from * across.
  3. Row 2: *Purl 1, knit 1. Repeat from * across.
  4. Repeat these two rows until piece measures 12 inches.
  5. Bind off in pattern. Weave in ends.
