Knitting Diamonds:
I love knitting motifs that include diamonds, and this Diamond Brocade block is a winner for any patchwork project you're working on. After a couple of repeats you'll get the rhythm and you'll find that this is actually a pretty quick-to-knit pattern.
Materials:
- about 100 yards of the worsted weight yarn of your choice (I used Plymouth Encore color 515)
- one pair size 8 US knitting needles
- scissors and yarn needle
Gauge:
17 stitches per 4 inches, or 4.25 stitches per inch.
Size:
12 by 12 inch block.
Instructions:
- Cast on 49 stitches.
- Work in Diamond Brocade, as follows:
Row 1: Knit 4, *purl 1, knit 7. Repeat from * across, ending purl 1, knit 4.
Row 2: Purl 3, *knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 5. Repeat from * across, with the last repeat ending purl 3.
Row 3: Knit 2, *purl 1, knit 3. Repeat from * across, with last repeat ending knit 2.
Row 4: Purl 1, *knit 1, purl 5, knit 1, purl 1. Repeat from * across.
Row 5: *Purl 1, knit 7. Repeat from * across.
Row 6: Repeat row 4.
Row 7: Repeat row 3.
Row 8: Repeat row 2.
- Continue in pattern for 12 inches.
- Bind off. Weave in ends.
