This Small Knit Heart is a sock-yarn version of the bulky-weight Knit Heart, and it's pretty darn cute in its own right.

There are a lot of potential uses for this little heart, such as:

  • decorating a gift
  • using as a little pocket or decorative element on a kid's sweater or dress
  • wearing as a pin
  • sewing two together with a little stuffing and using as a Christmas ornament
  • hanging a bunch on a string for a holiday garland or as a symbol of love
  • attaching to a card for a homemade Valentine

The beauty of this little cutie is that it takes very little yarn and very little time to knit one of these up, so you'll be sure to come up with plenty of uses for them as you knit a bunch with all your little leftover bits of sock yarn.

You'll need two "balls" of yarn for this project, but the second is just for one side of the top part of the heart, so you can just pull a length of yarn a couple of yards long off your ball before you get started and use that as your second ball with no problem.

  • about 6 yards of sock yarn of your choice (I used Socks that Rock lightweight because I happened to have some in a pink colorway, called Happy Go Lucky)
  • set of 2 size 1 US (2.25 mm) knitting needles
  • scissors and yarn needle

Gauge is not critical for this project.

Sample heart is 2.75 inches wide at widest point and about 2.5 inches tall.
