One of the really cool things about knitting socks is that you can make things that are a heck of a lot fancier and prettier (not to mention more comfortable) than the socks you can buy in a store. And it's really fun to pull out the fancy every now and then.
A sock I really love, both to knit and to wear, is the Rib Fantastic Sock. This is actually a pretty easy stitch pattern, with alternating sections of yarn overs and decreases done in different ways. Worked flat, it makes for a undulating fabric that would be awesome for a wrap (I need to remember that...) but in the round it makes a fun zigzag pattern down the leg.
What's your favorite fancy stitch pattern for socks? I need to move beyond all those plain and practical Stockinette socks I've been making!
