I can't help but share a few more inspiring books and authors to get our knitting year off on the right foot, and it just wouldn't be right not to talk about Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne, also known as the knitters behind Mason-Dixon Knitting.
It would not be right because, y'all, I met them, in really real life, back in December, at the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza. (That Thorn Ann is knitting right now? I was in the Alisha Goes Around booth when she bought that yarn. Incidentally, if you want to see what I bought, there's a video.)
And since I have met them I can say that the impression you get of them from their blog and their books, Mason-Dixon Knitting and Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines is exactly the way they are. Warm. Funny. Inspiring. Lovers of yarn, of good knitting and of knitters.
Their motto is "knitting is 'spose to be fun," and a weekend with them and other knitters reminded me of that. I'm trying to knit a lot more for fun these days, things I really want to knit and am interested in. It's no coincidence after spending time with them that I'm suddenly very into Garter Stitch, which we'll get into starting next week.
