My absolute favorite Valentine's Day knitting pattern here at About.com has got to be the OXO Scarf. Featuring the easy but effective OXO cable, this somewhat skinny scarf is perfect for the little girl in your life. You could probably make it for a boy, too, just don't tell him the cable is made of Xs and Os!
Because of the love theme, I consider this a Valentine's project, but it would also be adorable to wear at Easter (if it's still cold around Easter where you live) or really any time in the spring thanks to the great rosy pink color of the yarn.
And, of course, if you don't have a girly girl, you don't have to knit yours in pink at all. This scarf only takes about 110 yards of bulky yarn, so you're sure to find something in your stash that will serve, even if it isn't Valentine-colored.
