Watch and Learn Fair Isle
Knitting Daily has started putting out a series of instructional DVDs to teach knitters new skills and help them through projects. One of the first is "Introduction to Fair Isle: The Ivy League Vest" with Interweave Knits editor Eunny Jang.
The almost hour-long program offers step-by-step advice and techniques for working an involved Fair Isle project, including working with multiple colors in the round, reading a chart, shaping, using steeks and finishing the project. The pattern itself is a cute vest previously published in Interweave Knits, and a copy of the pattern is available with the DVD.
This is a great way for people to learn who really need to see how something works. If you've been hesitant to take on a detailed Fair Isle project, consider this your personal knitting workshop.
