More Ideas for Trimming Your Stash
Thursday July 2, 2009
If you're interested in paring down the number of extra balls of yarn in your home this summer, whether those are full skeins or bits and pieces left from other projects, there are plenty of great stash busting ideas you can try.
As illustrated yesterday, a scarf is a great way to go when using up little bits, and you don't have to just work it in Garter Stitch. Any pattern stitch looks good in stripes.
Other great ideas for getting rid of little bits include accessories, toys, washcloths and other one-skein or smaller projects. These also have the benefit of usually being pretty quick knitting, so you get your double gratification of a finished project and some yarn removed from the stash pretty quickly.

I go through my stash periodically and donate part skeins, remnants, whole skeins, etc. to our local homeless shelter. The women are so anxious to get the yarn and I try to keep them happy.
I just finished crocheting a cat bed with just the itty bitty pieces and small balls left over from other projects. I made it big enough for my twin black kitties (1 year old now) to fit in as they like to sleep together.
