A Grid of Purls
Monday December 29, 2008
There are so many knitting stitches that are based on plain old Stockinette Stitch, but jazz it up just a little bit so that it's more entertaining both to knit and to look at on the garments we use in our everyday life. One such pattern is the Seed-Pearl Grid, which is basically just Stockinette Stitch with occasional purls worked on the right side to make big boxes ringed by little knobby pearl-like stitches.
This would be a great one for any time you would otherwise use Stockinette, such as on sweaters, afghan blocks, or any other knitting that would otherwise be plain. It's not too difficult to keep up with the pattern and it adds a more distinctive, textured look to whatever you're knitting.
