Wordless Wednesday: Red Heart Eco-Ways

Wednesday December 17, 2008
Red Heart Eco-Ways
Red Heart Eco-Ways, 70 percent acrylic, 30 percent recycled polyester. 186 yards per 4 ounce skein, medium weight. (c) SArah E. White.

I'm always on the lookout for more eco-friendly yarns, those made organically or with less-harmful processes. Red Heart recently released a couple of yarns made with recycled materials, and this is one of them. The polyester comes from recycled plastics and thus prevents some waste from going into the landfill.

While an acrylic yarn can never really be green (since it's made with petroleum products), yarns like this are a step in a better direction. As you can see I haven't cracked this baby open to see how it knits (it is almost Christmas, after all, so there hasn't been much time for swatch knitting) I plan to serve up a full review soon. And if anyone out there has used this yarn and has a report, I'm all ears.
