Gift Idea: Yarn Dots

Monday December 8, 2008
Yarn DotsYarn Dots from PolarKnit.
Now that people are really getting serious about shopping for the holidays (if you're done already, I don't want to hear from you) I thought we'd focus this week on some great gift ideas for the knitters on your list (or things you might like to ask for yourself.

First up is Yarn Dots from PolarKnit (Manufacturer's Site). These little plastic "dots" originated as a way to decorate Crocs and similar shoes that have holes in them. These can be used in that way, too, or you can poke them through any bulky knit fabric, as shown, as an embellishment.

Themes include Will Knit for Coffee, Born to Knit/Crochet, Made By Me, Crafty Monkey, Just One More Row and Yarn Diva. There's also the ever-popular Skully design, featuring a skull with knitting needles for the crossbones and with a red bow on top.

These would be a great stocking stuffer for a younger knitter on your list, who might actually know what they are for, or as a gift to a young-at-heart crafter who'll love to know how the younger generation is showing off its crafting skills.

I got some with a package of polar fleece yarn I ordered. Didn’t really know what they were for until my daughter told me they were for crocks. Well, then we had a discussion about what crocks are. Now I wear them all the time. LOVE THEM!!
Anyway, the yarn dots are the cutest things I’ve ever seen! I want them all!!
