Gift Idea of the Week: 101 Stitches to Knit
Friday November 14, 2008
Who needs another stitch dictionary? I, for one, think you can't have too many compilations of stitch patterns, since they're all a little different and they're great fun to look at for project inspiration. This one, the Harmony Guides 101 Stitches to Knit, is a fun one because each stitch is printed on a different card, making it possible to take just the stitch pattern you need with you when you're working away from home.
As advertised, this box has 101 stitch patterns, with instructions given both in words (well, abbreviations anyway) and charts, with keys to both in case any part of it stumps you. It includes knit and purl stitches, cables and lace patterns, so there's a lot of variety. The whole box would be a little heavy to tote around, but the beauty part is you don't have to.
This would be a great gift for any budding knitwear designer you know, or anyone who just likes to play with yarn and different combinations of stitches.
