In the Bag
Friday August 15, 2008
For public school kids where I live, school starts on Monday. That seems much too early for summer to be over, if you ask me. But kids of all ages can bring a little brightness to their bookbags (or knitting bags, or tote bags) with this cute and super easy Knit Pencil Bag.
This bag shows off the wonders of self-striping yarn and is quick to knit in basic Stockinette Stitch. Of course if you wanted to use a less dramatic yarn you could knit it in just about any stitch pattern you like.
The finishing touches of this bag do take some time, though, as you're both sewing in a lining (mine you can't really see, but it's a fun blue and white batik) and a zipper. But the results are well worth it for a bag you can use to stash small knitting needles or sock projects as well as pencils, calculators and other school needs.
