Waterfalls in Stitches

Waterfall PatternWaterfall Pattern. (c) Sarah E. White.
The Waterfall Pattern is a pretty easy knitting stitch pattern with a lacy look made by yarn overs and decreases. The only thing that's a little tricky about this lovely pattern is that you don't always decrease in the same row you increase, so you'll need to make sure when you finish the six-row repeat that you have the same number of stitches you started with.

This pattern is nice looking on both sides, making it a good choice for a wrap, shawl or stole. And because it's relatively easy with a short pattern repeat, it's a great introduction to lacy knitting for those who haven't tried it before.

I like the looks of the “lace”. I guess when going through each pattern row and counting and writing down the stitch count for each row before starting to knit, it may be easier to track down mistakes when counting stitches after each row.
