Knit Toys for Safety
Tuesday August 21, 2007
If the recent toy recalls have got you worried about the toys your kids are playing with, the folks at Knitting Daily have some great patterns for knit and crochet toys.
From a tea set to crowns, knit cuddlies to Father Christmas, you're sure to find something here your kids (or other little people in your life) will love.
"Making your own toys allows you to control the production process," says Sandi Wiseheart, editor of Knitting Daily. "You decide on the materials and you make it your own. And with handknits, parents also have the option of making their toys organic through the use of readily-available organic yarns and materials."
If you're interested in learning more about knitting with organics, check out Natural Knits for Babies and Moms, from which some of the Knitting Daily patterns come. And look here for more knitting patterns for toys.

As you know Sarah, I’ve been making toys for a long time…actually children often leave their ‘hi tech’ toys at the door when they come into my unit, preferring to play with the toys I produce, even though their parents wonder because my toys don’t do anything. In reality, the toys I make do anything that the child can imagine, they are not restricted by lack of batteries or not being pre programmed. God bless.
