Charity Spotlight: Afghans of Honor
Sunday August 19, 2007
A reader e-mailed me the other day and asked if I could mention a new knitting charity she has worked to set up. It's called Afghans of Honor and it's the sister charity to Quilts of Valor.
The two organizations work to get handmade lap blankets and quilts to wounded veterans from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's a small way to honor the service and sacrifice of these men and women and give them a little comfort as they recuperate.
Knit afghans ranging from lap afghan size (about 50 by 60 inches) to twin bed size (about 60 by 90 inches) are accepted in any color and any pattern the knitter wishes that would be appropriate for an adult. They can be made of any material.
For more information about how to make the blankets or where to send them, visit the Afghans of Honor website.

The Afghans of Honor link isn’t working. Is there any contact information that could put me in touch with the organizations founder? I would love to contribute to this worthy cause!
