Stitch of the Week: Garter Eyelet Lace

Saturday April 28, 2007
Garter Stitch Eyelet Lace pattern This week's stitch is garter stitch eyelet lace, a very easy knitting stitch pattern that involves rows of garter stitch combined with a row of yarn overs and knit two togethers that makes a row of eyelets.

This stitch pattern would make a great washcloth, lacy scarf or even a blanket. It's very easy and quick to knit because there's only one row you really need to pay attention on.

Hi! I’m a beginning knitter. Could you please tell me what size knitting needles I would use to make the wash cloths AND the baby’s blanket? Thanks so much!

Hi, Jan,

It would depend on the type of yarn you were using. For the sample pictured, which was knit with a worsted-weight yarn, I used size 8 US needles. The ball band for the yarn you select will give you a good idea of what sized needles work best with that yarn.
