Fizzy Fuzzy Scarf Sometimes it's hard to resist a really fun, funky yarn. I recently bought a bunch of a multi-colored, tufted carry along yarn called Bird of Paradise (the little tufts of yarn are meant to look like the flowers) at my local yarn store's winter sale, thinking maybe I would make a scarf. At least this once I had a plan for a yarn and actually carried it through!

I combined it with a plain and simple wool yarn, Cascade 220, and came up with what may be the perfect marriage of style and function. Because this is a wool scarf, it's super warm. The Bird of Paradise adds interest, color and fun and is sure to make you smile even on really cold days. And because the scarf is short, every inch works to warm you instead of hanging down your chest where it can't do much good.

I used black as the background color for my scarf, but you could make it even more wild and crazy by adding a colorful background yarn that blends or contrasts with the Bird of Paradise colorway you choose. Either way, this is a scarf that might just make you wish winter would hang around a little longer. Almost.

Louise,

I found it at my local yarn store, but a good source for it online is The Knitting Zone. It’s really pretty and great fun to work with!
